Pretty O.P. is a Baltimore indie-pop/rock band made up of four brothers: Derek, Keenan, Mitchell, and Spencer Mac. Their music centers on melodic songwriting, blending elements of rock, pop, jazz, funk, and electronica, through layered arrangements and elaborate orchestration.
Emerging in 2017 with the release of their self-titled album, Pretty O.P. began as a home-recording project initiated by Derek Mac alongside friends and brother Keenan. The project gradually grew, with the four Mac brothers at its core, sharing the writing, recording, production, and performance of the band's music. A lifetime of making music together has given the brothers a shared musical language that continues to shape both their records and live performances.
Their fourth album, Light Blue Nights, represents the realization of the sound the brothers have spent well over a decade developing. Across 13 tracks, the band’s varied influences come together within a cohesive pop-oriented framework, with much of its production built through extensive recording, editing, and arrangement of individual performances into detailed, seamless wholes. Created independently in the brothers’ studio, Light Blue Nights reflects a long history of experimentation and refinement, bringing together the creative direction established across their first three albums.
